Aurora Reservoir

Map:
Description:

The 2,500-acre site and primary storage for Aurora’s drinking water is accessed from Quincy Avenue by turning south on Powhaton, 2 ¼ miles east of E-470. The reservoir is located 1 ¼ miles south of Quincy Avenue.

Aurora Reservoir is a popular destination for trout anglers in the Denver metro area and only allows electric motors which can make this lake difficult to navigate by boat on windy days. The lake provides a large swim beach with many spots for picnicking, many day use areas and shelters, a sand volleyball court, boat rentals, restrooms, a playground, a windsurfing beach, a scuba area, and an archery range. An 8-mile-long trail system around the lake provides easy access to spots along the shoreline.

Aurora Reservoir provides primary storage for Aurora’s drinking water in addition to a wide variety of recreational opportunities. The site is also managed as a natural area with abundant wildlife. The reservoir is open year-round, with excellent ice fishing. Learn more about Aurora’s drinking water system.

Reservoir will close to boating on Dec. 15 (or earlier if ice forms)
Closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day.
