Fishing Description:

Lake Minnewaska is primarily managed for walleye with bass and sunfish being species of secondary management importance. Walleye are abundant. Catch rates in 2006 were the highest documented since 1989. Mean size of captured walleye was 17.2 inches and 2.1 pounds. Growth rates of walleye are relatively fast in Lake Minnewaska with fish typically exceeding 17.0 inches in length after their fourth growing season.

Largemouth and smallmouth bass populations have greatly expanded in recent years. Growth rates are above average. Anglers can expect good catch rates of medium- to large-sized fish. With development of a high-quality bass fishery, Lake Minnewaska has become a popular choice for fishing tournaments.

Other species include bluegill, northern pike, and black crappie.
