Description: 

Smithville Lake is a 7,190 acre reservoir located just 20 minutes from downtown Kansas City. While its proximity to Kansas City does give it the most fishing pressure of any lake in the state, it is still an excellent fishing lake.

Facilities and Parks: 

It costs $17 to launch your boat at the Clay County Parks ramps at Smithville Lake. That includes the $6 daily vehicle fee and the $11 daily ramp fee. However, annual permits cost $25 for a vehicle and $65 for boats. Daily and annual permits cost less for seniors.

Fishing Description: 

Smithville Lake provides excellent fishing for bass, crappie, walleye, catfish and white bass.
